Please Come Home

by Rong Xin Choy

I was looking through christmas songs to play on my ukulele when I decided to compose one myself. The festive period always seems to be about surrounding yourself with people you love, but there are going to be people who you love who can't be around, even if you would give anything to have them there. In the vein of nostalgia, I give you Please Come Home.

Soft winking lights
Draped around a make-shift
Christmas tree
Branches in a vase
Memories I just can't seem to erase

It's not that I'm afraid of being alone
It's just that with you was always better
Lover if it's not too much to ask
Please come home

Yesteryear like yesterday
Your whispers are still ringing
I pressed my lips into your cheek
To make a mark
We chased the light until it was dark

It's not that I'm afraid of being alone
It's just that with you was always better
Lover if it's not too much to ask
Please come home.

Homemade sorbet with thyme
That's the taste of when you were mine
Homemade sorbet with thyme
That's the taste of when you were mine

Please come home
