You loved me selflessly;

I didn't deserve it.

You protected me;

I was vulnerable.

You gave me hope;

I was in despair.

You gave me dignity;

I was ashamed.

You asked for my hand;

I gave you everything, left.

We loved true.

 We tried.

The past nipped;

Our ankles.

Like rabid dogs.

The miles between-

Long and winding.

Confused our path.

We got lost.

In the Woods,

you stopped.

I am alone.

In the stillness,

I remember you.

I am alone.

In the stillness,

I remember us.

I am alone.

I sit in the Clearing,

holding my breath.
