Today I have a massive desire to learn how to cast, solder and cut metals to make jewelry. I know the basics of stamping, but casting with wax or sugar isn't something I can do at home unless I have a furnace and thus I'm a little stagnated in my progress with creating things. I might go for classes over the holidays but until then..
Nevertheless, I wanted to share the work of an amazing jewelry artist that I found on Etsy who really is a cut above the rest. Operating from Amsterdam in the Netherlands, she has lovely and enchanting stories forming the inspiration behind her pieces, and it is refreshing to see how she open she is about her process of creation which she shares on her blog. My absolute favorite of her jewelry is the series she did inspired by the story of Le Petit Prince, where she created five pieces of the Asteroide, the Baobab, the Boa, Zorro, and Rosa. (Follow her full blog post on this over here.)
I plan to get the fox in either a pendant or a ring- I'm still deciding. But this collection surely brings out an immense amount of nostalgia and it's quite hard to resist.
"To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world....”-Fox, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Le Petit Prince
